Billiard Cues for Sale

The following gallery of pictures is of a set of 4 transition cues that are for sale as a group. Please refer back to the web section that discusses “Billiard cues through Time” http://www.vintagecuesforyou.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=122. These cues from the 1800s were in use as the billiard cue was in a transition from a Mace to a cue as we know it today. This set of 4 cues is being sold as a set for a person with the desire to have a set of cues on display representing billiard cues through time. Three of the cues are maple and one is ash. All cues range in tip gauge from 16 to 17 mm. All cues are very straight. All four cues are approximately 56.5 inches in length. And as you can see they all have early weight stamps. The ash cue is likely the earliest as the weight stamp has more of a scrimshaw look. Please call for pricing and shipping cost.

The following 4 pictures are of a cue I currently have for sale. It is what I call a transition cue from the period when player used a maze to the modern cue. Read more about this cue transition period on the web site “Billiard Cues Through Time”. http://www.vintagecuesforyou.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=122. As seen in one picture, this cue has the J.M. Brunswick, Chicago Stamp which means it was made before 1873 when Brunswick merged with Balke. The cue is made of ash and has a very early 18 oz. weight stamp style. This is a remarkable 60 inches in length. As seen in the pictures the cue has an original 17 mm flat leather tip. Please call for added information, pricing and shipping cost.

The following 3 pictures are of a vintage carved butt cue I currently have for sale. The cue rolls without a warp. It has a rosewood butt, Berger points and a maple shaft. It has an 18 oz. weight stamp. It has a 12 mm ivory ferrule that is in perfect condition and good leather tip. The length is 56 ¼ inches in length. The maker is unknown as well as the age. It however was likely made before 1930. This is a great example of a vintage cue for in your cue rack as well as a good vintage playing cue. Please call for added information, pricing and shipping cost.

The following 5 pictures are of an antique linen wrapped cue I currently have for sale.  The cue has been reconditioned to its original condition when it came from the Brunswick factory in the early 1900’s. The cue has a rosewood butt, Berger points and a maple shaft. The linen is old but in good condition and tight to the cue. The ivory ferrule is perfect and it has a good leather tip. The cue has an 18 oz. weight stamp and a nice vintage rubber noise subduer (bumper). The cue is 56 ¼ inches in length. The original white eagle decal was in poor shape. The cue now has a proprietary Vintage Cues varnish fix decal that is a computer generated near mirror image of the original cue when it came from the factory. You can read about the creation of these remarkable decals in the “Cue Decal Recreations” of this web site as well as the history of the Brunswick Decals in the “Looking Back” section of the “Brunswick Cue Decal” section of this web site. Please call for added information, pricing and shipping cost.

The following 4 pictures are of a most remarkable very rare Birdseye Maple transition cue I currently have for sale.  It is what I call a transition cue from the early 1800’s period when players were in transition from a maze to the modern cue. Read more about this cue transition period on the web site “Billiard Cues Through Time”. http://www.vintagecuesforyou.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=122. Neither I nor anyone I have shown this cue to has seen a bird’s eye maple transition cue. The wood is quite striking. Unfortunately the cue does have a warp of about ¾ inches when rolled. It is not surprising that the cue is warped as birds eye maple in this length of wood would have been unstable even if it had been air dried for several years before turning. Perhaps that is why one does not see many one-piece bird’s eye maple cues from the past. As the warp is less notable when the cue is in a cue rack, it is a great and rare example for in a cue rack. The cue is 56 inches in length with a 12.5 mm leather tip with no ferrule. Please call for added information, pricing and shipping cost.

The three pictures below are of an early carved butt one piece maple cue. There the cue is 56” in length with a perfect ivory ferrule and tip. The cue does have a warp. There is no indication of maker and there is no weight stamp although it does weigh 16.7 oz. If you are looking for yet another example of a carved cue for in your collection this would be a great buy for not much more than the price of an ivory ferrule and tip. Please call for added information, pricing and shipping cost.
